May news update from Kenya...

Dear blog,

sorry for my silence, the past two weeks have been really busy.

Among other things, I have been lucky enough to go and film in the Masai Mara with a cameraman colleague from France.

We have been investigating the outbreak of an invasive plant in Kenya, the parthenium, for the ARTE magazine. 'Global Mag'.

We have been interviewing experts from the group CABI, from the Kenya Wildlife Service and from the Herborarium at the National Museum of Kenya.

Indeed, the parthenium seems to have sprayed in a lot of areas in the Mara, around Nairobi and in the Rift Valley...

More on this issue on ARTE, in June or September. I'll post the link.

Last week, we also spent two days in Kibera reporting on the Youth Reform Initiative, a group of men born and raised in Kibera trying to bring hope and infrastructures in the slum.

They started by growing organic vegetables and fruits then worked on sanitation and clean water, bringing activity, a few jobs and hope to many people.

The week before, on another topic, I had a fascinating interview with Dr. Phil Clark, researcher at SOAS, in London (The School of Oriental and African Studies) on the role of international justice in Africa and especially in Kenya.

And there go three weeks...

Cheers.
