The Opposition FDC has released a statement regarding alleged electoral fraud

Here is the statement, released on Friday evening:

“There is growing evidence that today’s election has been very flawed and violent. The election process as has been witnessed has been characterised by electoral flaws. [There has been] mass rigging for the president, including ballot papers availed to us by someone who was paid to stuff the box.

At 3pm today, a resident of Kampala [came to] the FDC HQ, bringing with him 17 ballot papers, which he had been given by NRM and was paid to stuff them into the ballot box when he cast his own vote. The ballot papers were all marked with votes for Museveni.

EU International Observers were called and shown the ballot papers and spoke to the resident. He advised the Observers that many people had been paid to do the same thing with the ballots being handed out at a location near the National Theatre. The ballot papers were shown to the EU Observers.

The ballot papers will be presented by FDC to the Electoral Commission to enable them to investigate.”
